Amie & Bruce's Wedding in Selkirk
This was our first wedding to photograph at Philipburn Hotel in Selkirk. We met the couple for a pre-shoot at the venue a few weeks before their wedding to talk through the details and have a look around. This hotel has many picturesque locations with a variety of backdrops available, including using their pavillion for the outdoor wedding ceremony itself.
On the day Keith photographed the bridal preparations at the hotel, which was a remarkably calm morning with Amie, her maid of honour and two bridesmaids along with Amie's mother getting ready for the day. The Hair Stylist was styled by Bridal Hair by Luci and the Make-up Artist was Bailz Beauty. The weather was one of the hotest days of the year and so we were glad to look forward to the guests enjoying hotel garden later on.
During the mid-morning, Pamela arrived to photograph the grounds and the decorations in the pavillion and the reception room, before the guests started to arrive, welcomed by James from Harmony Bagpiping. The guests gathered in the hotel bar before being invited to the pavillion ready for the ceremony.
The decorations in the pavillion were large white and pink flowers including a floral hoop and provided a very summery feel. The civil ceremony was conducted by Scottish Borders Weddings and the entire family was very happy to watch this delighful couple getting married.
After the ceremony we took the all-guest group shot photograph which included spraying of bubbles instead of throwing confetti and then, due to rain starting, we moved back into the pavillion for the family photographs.
Once everyone had moved into the reception room, speeches were given by Amie's father, Bruce's best man and then by Bruce himself. The meal was then served: then, after the main course, a surprise happened. Three of the waiting staff began to sing! This was Singers Secreto who provided the entertainment including getting the wedding guests to join in on some of the well-known songs, creating a party atmosphere.
After the meal we then took Amie and Bruce around the grounds of the hotel for some more couple portaits before their evening guests arrived for the disco, provided by Noon Entertainments. We left the happy couple and their guests having very lively celebrations and wish them all the very best for their years ahead together.
